A new synagogue will be built in the Azerbaijani capital.
According to Blagovest-info, head of Azerbaijan's Mountain Jews Semen Ikhiilov said the community is looking for a site for the synagogue construction.
He noted that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev suggested him to find a site for the synagogue, promising to build it.
Ikhiilov said the synagogue should be constructed in the quarters of compact settlement of Mountain Jews in Baku. He also announced that Jews, residing in Sumgayit, rent private flats to practice religious devotions. Therefore, they need their on synagogue.
Ikhiilov said that the number of Mountain Jews in Azerbaijan exceeds 30,000 people. Therefore three synagogues in Baku, one in Guba and one in Oghuz for all these people.
