Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan approved new tourist itineraries in Geygol region, according to head of culture & tourism department of Geygol region Shargiya Guseynova.
Those arriving to Geygol will be offered 5 itineraries to learn more about district and its history. The first itinerary offers tourists to visit central part of region and see Ashygly village, ‘Yelenendorf’ resort centre, Anayid and St. Mary Albanian churches and also a Maiden Tower in Togana settlement.
Those tourist opting for a second itinerary will visit the town of Geygol, will see burial mounds of bronze age period, stone bridge, ancient fortress dated back to XII century, Gabriel temple of middle centuries.
The third itinerary apart from ancient monuments will offer tourists a visit to Nurud spring whose waters have a curative effect.
Fourth itinerary will also offer paying a visit to burial mounds of bronze age period in a number of villages.
And the last itinerary will introduce tourists with the town itself, its German culture, Lutheran church and architectural monuments boasting with 200 years history. According to Shargiya Guseynova a number of foreign tourists visiting Geygol is growing every year. She noted that most of them are German tourists. Comparing with the previous year this year they had 4 times more foreign visitors.
