“Ancient Baku” published within Cultural Year “Baku – Islamic Culture Capital 2009” presented
Baku. Ulkar Gasimova–APA. A presentation ceremony of “Ancient Baku”, the book published within the Cultural Year “Baku – Islamic Culture Capital 2009”, took place on Thursday in the Akhundov National Library.
The book written by Chingiz Ghajar is about the antiquity of Baku, the Islamic Culture Capital. Minister of Culture and Tourism delivered speech at the event and informed the guests that the book’s author is from the Ghajar dynasty.
“Baku is the ancient and at the same time modern city. We are living and seeing modern Baku. The city saved its antiquity and at the same time is developed and modernized day by day and becomes more interesting for the local residents and foreign guests as well”.
The minister said the book would be translated to English to be presented to the foreign readers. ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, Executive Director of the Friends of Azerbaijani Culture Foundation Ibrahim Guliyev, Deputy Minister of Culture of Georgia Marine Chokashvili and others also spoke at the event.
