Outstanding Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi’s statue in Baku
Statue of outstanding Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi was erected in Baku.

A new park with special irrigation line and lights is set near the statue now.

Site engineer Khayyam Huseynov told APA that the park covers more than two thousand square meters.

"Construction work began a month ago and we will complete the work in the next three days".

The statue was sculptured in Uzbekistan on order of Baku Executive Power, but its plinth was prepared in Azerbaijan.

"9 tons of bronze were used in sculpturing the statue and plinth was prepared from the marble".

The park is located at the crossing of Azadlig Avenue and Najaf Narimanov Street. President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, who will visit Azerbaijan on September 11, is expected to attend the statue’s opening ceremony.
